Doja Cat knows how to make an entrance. On Monday, designer Daniel Roseberry showcased his Spring/Summer 2023 Haute Couture collection for Schiaparelli at Petit Palais in Paris. Amidst the stunning runway looks, Doja Cat stole the spotlight from the front row.
The “Say So” singer was a spectacle in 30,000 fire-engine red Swarovski crystals covering her face, head, chest, and arms. Makeup artist Pat McGrath and her team meticulously applied the crystals by hand, a process that took four hours and 58 minutes. McGrath expressed her delight on social media, stating, “It was an honor to collaborate with the incredibly gifted.”
McGrath praised the look as “truly inspiring” in a video showcasing close-ups of the singer. She described the final result as a “magical, mesmerizing masterpiece” and a testament to Doja Cat’s dedication and hard work.
Doja Cat’s sparkling red visage was perfectly complemented by her red silk faille bustier and a hand-knitted, knee-length skirt adorned with lacquered wooden beads. She completed the ensemble with a mono-chromatic cascading shawl, red-stockings, trompe l’œil toe boots & dangling red stone earrings, styled by Brett Alan Nelson.
Roseberry, as the creative director of Schiaparelli, drew inspiration from Dante Alighieri’s Inferno for the collection, and McGrath echoed this theme in Doja Cat’s striking “Doja’s Inferno look.”
Known for her bold beauty choices, Doja Cat has consistently turned heads at runway shows. During the Spring/Summer 2023 fashion week last October, she showcased a series of standout looks, including a gold-drenched ensemble at the A.W.A.K.E Mode presentation and a blue-contoured face at the Mônot runway show.
Since shaving her head and eyebrows last summer, Doja Cat has embraced her face as a canvas for avant-garde beauty experiments, featuring innovative face paint and unique eyebrow designs.
